be supposes to do의 뜻

1. ~할 의무가 있다. ~ 해야한다.
   - 의무, 책임, 필요를 나타냄
   - 올바른 실행법을 이야기할 때 사용됨 (~해야한다의 의미)
   - ~해야한다: 역활을 감안한 올바른 행동
   - 규칙이나 의무, 법률, 일상생활에서의 규칙등을 지켜야한다
   - 조동사 should와 뜻이 동일
   - synomym: have to, ought to, 
   - have to와의 차이점: 
     (1) have to: ~하지 않으면 안된다는 어감으로 ~해야 한다. 
     (2) be supposed to: 기준에 대한 책임 --> 따라서, "~하기로 되어있다" 혹은 "~할 책임이 있다"로 바꿀 수 있음 
     (3) 부정문에서의 차이점
         - do not have to V: ~할 필요가 없다. 
         - be not supposed to V: ~해서는 안된다 (be not allowed to do: ~하는 것이 허용/허락되지 않는다.). 
    - Have, should는 같은 의미로 ~해야한다는 의미지이만, be supposed to와 비교하면 너무 강한 표현이므로 피하는게 좋음
2. ~하기로 되어있다. ~할 예정이다.
   - 약 70%정도의 확률.
   - 강한 예측은 아님
   - ~하기로 되어있다 (have to V): 하겠다고 약속한 상태 
   - ~할 예정이다 (be expected to): 
   - 예정된 사건 혹은 기대되는 행동을 이야기할 때 사용함
   - 과거형으로 was supposed to V: 이럴 경우, ~할 예정이었지만 못했다라는 의미
3. ~를 의도하다. 
   - be intended to do 
3. 원래 그런거야/ 일반적으로 그래
   - 사람들이 ~라고 말한다 (People say that it is said ~~~)
   - ~라고 여겨지다. (be considered)

1) What am I supposed to do? 
내가 무엇을 해야하나요? (어떻게 해야하나요?)
2) David is supposed to be at work at 9:00 every moring 
David는 매일 아침 9시에 직장에 있어야 한다. 
3) In the Northwest, we are supposed to take boats out of the water by end of October 
북동쪽에서는 10월 말까지 물 밖으로 배를 꺼내야만 한다. 
4) All of the students in this class are supposed to do their homework by themselves 
이 교실에서 모든 학생들은 스스로 숙제를 해야만 한다. 
5) You be supposed to help your mom. 
너는 엄마를 도와야 한다. 
6) My arm is broken, how am I supposed to play soccer?
팔이 부러졌어. 어떻게 축구를 하지?

[be supposed to do의 부정형: be not allowed to do]
- You're not supposed to sit here: 여기에 앉으시면 안됩니다. 
- You're not supposed to park here: 여기에 주차하면 안됩니다. 
- You're not supposed to smoke here: 여기에서 담배를 피우면 안됩니다. 
- You're not supposed to be here after the building is closed: 건물이 닫힌 후에 여기 있으면 안됩니다. 

2. ~하기로 되어있다. ~할 예정이다.

 a. 예정된 사건 (~할 예정이다)  
  - This game was supposed to end at 4 P.M: 이 게임은 4시에 끝낼 예정이었습니다. 
  - Express mail is supposed to arrive by 10:30: 속달 우편은 10시 30분까지 도착할 예정입니다. 
  - What was I supposed to do again? 내가 뭘 할 예정이였죠? 
  - They are supposed to arrive today: 그들은 오늘 도착할 예정이다. 
  - The bus is supposed to leave in fifteen minutes: 버스는 15분 후에 출발 예정이다. 
  - It is supposed to rain tomorrow
  - I am supposed to meet him in the afternoon: 나는 그를 오후에 만날 예정이야.
  - that year the next spacecraft is supposed to launch: 그 해, 다음 우주선이 발사되기로 되었다.
  - My package is supposed to arrive tonight: 내 소포가 오늘 밤에 도착하기로 되어있어. 
  - What time was our flight supposed to leave? : 우리 항공편은 언제 출발하기로 되어있나요?
  - I am supposed to meet my friends: 저는 친구들을 만나기로 되어 있어요 
 

b. 기대되는 행동 (~하기로 되어있다) 
  - The children are supposed to put away their toys : 아이들이 장난감을 치우기로 되어있어요. 

[be supposed to do 현재형: ~하기로 되어있었다.]
  - You're supposed to be asleep now: 너 지금 잠자고 있었어야 해 
  - Aren't you supposed to do a study?: 너  공부하기로 되어있는 거 아니야? 
  - Aren't you supposed to submit this report? : 너 그 보고서 제출하기로 되어있지 않았니?
  - This is supposed to be well done: 왤던으로 나와야 했는데

[be supposed to do의 과거형: ~하기로 되어있었다 (하지만 x)]
  - The bus was supposed to come here an hour ago: 버스는 1시간 전에 왔어야 했다. (그런데 오지 않았다)
  - My roommate was supposed to do the dishes days ago: 내 룸메이트는 몇일 전에 설저지를 하기로 했었다. 
  - She was supposed to be here an hour ago: 그녀는 여기에 한시간 전에 있어야 했다. 
  - Today was supposed to be sunny, but it's raining: 오늘은 날씨가 맑기로 되어있었는데 비가 오는 중이다. 
  - I was supposed to go shopping yesterday, but I watched a movie instead.
  - You were supposed to be here at 2 p.m: 당신은 여기에 2시에 오기로 되어있었어요.
  - Why did you just show up? You were supposed to call first! 왜 그냥 왔어? 전화하고 오기로 했잖아. 

3. ~를 의도하다. 

- Is that supposed to be some sort of dance?: 무슨 춤이라도 추는거야?

4. 원래 그런거야/ 일반적으로 그래/~라고 알려져있어. 

- Christmas is supposed to be spent with family: 크리스마스는 가족들과 시간을 보내는거야
- Learning a new language is supposes to be challenging: 새로운 언어를 배우는 것은 일반적으로 어렵습니다.
